It was during the reign of Felipe II and particularly under the Bourbons when the landscape of Aranjuez as it is today began to take shape with its irrigation ditches and canals, the design of its streets and avenues, its squares and gardens. This renovation of Aranjuez’s landscape was sponsored by the monarchs decision to move the Court to the Town during the warm and torrid months until 1890. Among the Bourbons likings was Felipe’s V taste for music, boating recreation as enjoyed by Barbara de Braganza and hunting which, due to the abundance of game, soon became the favorite sport of all kings.
